Sun Dried Tomatoes

Born on the rooftops of Italy, tomatoes were left to dry in the sun as a way to store fresh tomatoes for winter.  Today, sun dried tomatoes are used world wide. It takes 20 pounds of fresh tomatoes to create just one pound of dried tomatoes!

On pesto, pizza, or added to pasta, there is no better way to instantly create a gourmet meal than by adding sun dried tomatoes, and ours are picked and packaged at the height of ripeness to ensure a superior product. Sun dried tomatoes can be rehydrated with a few simple steps in just a few minutes for use in sauces, stews, and other recipes.

Rich in lycopene, high in vitamin A & C, a good source of potassium and high in iron, sun dried tomatoes are an excellent way to achieve the recommended daily requirements of fruits and vegetables. In a 1997 study, published in the American Journal of Epidemiology, reported that lycopene could reduce the risk of a heart attack by as much as 50%.
