Dried Fruit FAQs
When eating dried fruits, what kinds of nutrients
should I be expecting to receive?
Eating dried fruits is by far one of the best snacks that a person
can eat thanks to the fact that they are so nutrient-dense. Not to mention
the fact that they are delicious. While the nutrients in different kinds
of fruits vary, nearly all fruits are similar in that they have no cholesterol,
and are low in sodium and saturated fat. Likewise, most dried fruits
are high in many of the vitamins that your body needs.
Sounds great. So can I eat as much as I want?
While there are definitely worse things to eat than dried fruits, you
still want to use a little moderation when snacking on them. The reason
why is because pretty much all dried fruits are high in sugar. This
does not mean that there is so much sugar that they should not be eaten,
but it does mean that you should just remember to be prudent in the
way you eat these snacks.
Is it easier to make dried fruits or just buy them?
Well, as long as you have easy access to the store, then it is probably
easier to buy them. However, it may be more rewarding for you to make
them yourself. Making dried fruits is pretty simple as long as you have
an oven. It is also something that your kids can help out with. The
one thing that you might want to remember is that it takes some patience.
Drying fruit properly can take a few hours.
